So, technically the buttocks (a.k.a. glutes) are not part of the “kegel” muscles. However, our recognition of their role in pelvic floor (and general) health is growing. I spend a lot of my time correcting posture and exercise form so that stress is taken off of the pelvic floor and put back on the glute muscles. The glutes kind of act like the power-house of the lower body and should help with movement, lifting and even just keeping us upright. I was lucky enough to be interviewed by fitness buff and blogger Amy McKee about my thoughts on glute muscles and pelvic health. For more information about the importance of training your glutes, and for a couple of my favorite glute exercises read Amy’s blog HERE. Can you do my top three exercises?
